New Store

I finally have a new store up. Head over to mattkstudios.com to check it out!

Little Heroes

I've been horrible at posting on here due to my laziness and the ease of posting to Twitter, Instagram and all those other hip sites. But I haven't completely abandoned this blog, so here are some little superheroes that I've been doing recently.

Adventure Time

Another Cartoon Network illustration just for fun.

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

Since I've been super busy with work that I can't show, here's something just for fun! I can't believe it's taken me this long to do some Foster's fan art.

Shazam Pitch

Throwback Thursday to when I was asked to come do some concepts for a Shazam!/Captain Marvel cartoon that was being pitched to Warner Bros. Nothing ever came of it but it was a fun project to work on.

Turtle Tower

Today's warm-up.

Photoshop for Illustrators

If you haven't taken my Character Illustration class, and you're just starting out as an illustrator, I have a 3-Part Skillshare class that covers the basics of Photoshop.

You have to have a Skillshare membership to take these classes, but my Character Illustration class is still available to purchase and take at your leisure.

Here are the links to each one: Part 1 Part 2 and Part 3

Hanna-Barbera to Cartoon Network Show

Here are some pics (courtesy of The Beast is Back) of my Ben 10 piece that I did for the From Hanna-Barbera to Cartoon Network gallery show. It was an honor to be a part of such an amazing show!

Pac-Man and the Ghosts

My buddy Tommy Day recently sent me a Pac-Man book that I had as a kid (and totally forgot about). After reading it to the kids, I had to do some fan art.

Powerpuff Girls #9 Variant Cover

This has popped up a few places so I think it's safe to post. I illustrated the subscription variant cover for Powerpuff Girls #9. As always, I had a ton of fun working on this cover!

I've also included the original sketch for #9, which had a slightly different composition, and some sketches for issue #8 (originally I was going to do the variant cover for that issue, but due to scheduling, I did #9 instead).

Leaky Timbers Kickstarter

I've been horrible about updating this site (as always, due to client work). Most of the stuff i'm working on I can't show yet, but I had to break the silence and help promote a great Kickstarter.

My pal, Joey Ellis, is doing a Kickstarter for his own comic book, Leaky Timbers. It stars Wolfie Monster and a slew of other crazy characters. If you're familiar with Joey's art at all then you know it's going to be a fun book! It only has 9 days left and it's very close to meeting it's goal, so please go support Joey!

Since my whole family loves Wolfie, I had to draw up a quick fan piece. Enjoy!

Buddy the Elf

I had to take a quick break from my DC super-hero illustrations (which I've been posting on my twitter and instagram accounts), and do one of Buddy the elf. Elf is hands down my favorite Christmas movie and I thought it was finally time I paid tribute to it.

Junior Road Worker

For my son, who's been asking me to draw a road worker.

Leo and Bebop

One thing I never get tired of drawing...Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So I made this (thanks to my pal Chris Lee for the pizza suggestion).

Mr. Peabody and Sherman #3

Here's my cover for the 3rd issue of IDW's Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

Target Gift Card

Last year, I was extremely fortunate to get to work on a 2013 Christmas gift card for Target. I was asked to illustrate an interactive Santa card (you record your voice on it and it plays back in Santa's deeper voice) and, needless to say, I had a ton of fun working on it!

Thanks so much to Sara Lintner and Kelsey Ciatti-Miller, who worked with me on the project...you guys rock!

Here is the final illustration along with some process work.

Peter Pan

A quick illustration I did last night.

Hello!

Turtles are fun to draw.

Toy Tuesday - Sprout

Since I've been horrible at posting new work, i've decided to create a new weekly challenge for myself. Every Tuesday I'm going to be posting an illustration based on a toy from my personal collection. It will be similar to the toy posts I did a few years ago.

I picked up a Sprout vinyl toy this past weekend, and thought he would be perfect for the inaugural illustration. Enjoy!
